Inception

This is the most recent release from Christopher Nolan (Director of the Dark Night). This movie was done by Warner Brothers and is one of my favorite movies to have come out for awhile.

The basic concept you need to understand in this movie is that dreams can be shared. Once sharing a dream the environment can be built and changed but too many changes alerts the dreamers subconscious that someone else is playing with their dream. Cob (Leonardo DiCaprio) plays a thief who breaks into peoples dreams and steals their secrets but he has a secret of his own that is interfering with some of the jobs.

Despite the pleas of his partner, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), Cob accepts a job to perform the task of planting an idea in someone else head. The reason Cob accepts the job is because the payday is the dismissal of charges that will allow him to return to his children. The problem is they need to do more than just plant the idea, they need to make the mark think it was his own idea. This is a complex task that requires pulling the mark, Robert Fischer Jr. (Cillian Murphy), into someone else dream but make him believe it is his own dream and that the idea originated from himself.

Cob and Arthur put together a team to do the job and begin the task of learning about their mark. While preparing for the job we learn more about Cob, his past and why he has accepted this job. As they are getting ready the situation changes and they find themselves forced to do the job before they are fully ready. As soon as they enter the dream the team realizes that they aren't fully prepared and that Mr. Fischer has been prepared for someone to try to steal his dreams.

While asleep they are able to continue to implement their plans and go deeper into the dreams, and subsequently deeper into Mr. Fischer's subconscious. The deeper they get into Mr. Fischer's subconscious the more chances they have to take and the more they rely on Cob. As they do so you learn more about Cob, why he is so desperate to finish the job and what or who keeps interfering with his jobs.

In the end, the question of whether or not the inception is, has or can be pulled off is left in the mind of the viewer.

This was a great movie that had some great twists and turns and kept you on the edge of your seat. Like I mentioned at the beginning this possibly my favorite movie to come out in the last year. 4 out of 5 stars.
