Bird Box (2018)

Bird Box is another, essentially, direct to Netflix release. The film quickly introduces the crux of the film with people succumbing to an entity and dying in various ways, which are varied and sudden. Malorie (Sandra Bullock) is pregnant and manages to avoid whatever is afflicting everyone else and is taken into the home of a stranger, among several other survivors. This group of survivors must try and figure what they can, and can not, do and still avoid whatever is happening in the outside world. Soon another woman, Olympia (Danielle Macdonald), comes to the home where our survivors are and convinces them to let her in. It's obvious that Olympia is also pregnant. Soon preparations must be made for the delivery of the babies. This necessitates additional supplies. The process of trying to figure out how to get out of the house to get supplies is an adventure and teaches us a little more about what's happening. Various other things happen at the home where the survivors are and soon it's time for Olympia to give birth and as Malorie prepares to help with the delivery she also goes into labor. The film jumps back and forth between the scenes at the home and the scene five years later. We are introduced to the children, who are named Boy (Julian Edwards) and Girl (Vivien Lyra Blair). Soon the film focuses strictly on future as Malorie is unable to remain at the home and must undertake a journey with Boy and Girl for their survival. This film was intense, fascinating, enthralling, and had my hooked from the get go. We actually started this pretty late and I stayed up till the early morning hours of the following day because I just couldn't stop. After watching this I have one specific question, but I'll only discuss it with people who've seen the film. If you haven't seen this yet I highly recommend you watch it. 3 out of 4 stars for me.
