This is a 2000 release from Columbia Pictures that I, surprisingly, enjoyed quite a bit.
This is the story of William Miller (Patrick Fugit), a high school student who was turned onto rock music by his sister, Anita (Zooey Deschanel) as she left home to flee their overprotective mother. As William nears the completion of High School he gets the opportunity to write a story about an up and coming rock band as he accompanies them on their concert tour. Frequently referred to as "The Enemy" by the band William gets to know them very personally as he interviews them one by one for his story. The only band member he has trouble getting an interview with is Russel Hammond (Billy Crudup). William also develops a close friendship with Penny Lane (Kate Hudson) and the other Band Aids who give him tips through out the trip. Eventually William gets his interview with Russell, writes his article, and returns home.
This is a very entertaining film with many plot points that keep the movie going. The band, and William with it, go through a lot of different experiences together.
Very good movie, 3 out of 5 stars.
Jumping ahead and Spring Break....
