A Knight's Tale

This is a 2001 film from Black and Blue Entertainment featuring, most notably, the late Heath Ledger.

After his Master dies a peasant squire named William (Heath Ledger), fueled by his hunger, takes his place in a jousting tournament. After he doesn't die and he subsequently wins the tournament he begins to wonder if he couldn't create a new identity for himself. With the help of his fellow squires Roland (Mark Addy) and Wat (Alan Tudyk) William trains himself to compete as a knight. As they travel to the next competition they run into Chaucer (Paul Bettany) the writer who helps them forge the needed papers to enter the tournament where William meets Count Adhemar (Rufus Sewell) who quickly becomes his nemissis. William also meets the beautiful Jocelyn (Shannon Sossamon) and quickly falls in love. Eventually it is discovered that William isn't of noble birth and he is faced with the choice to run or be arrested. William is rescued from captivity and restored to nobility by the Prince just in time to compete in the tournament against Count Adhemar.

This is a highly entertaining film from start to finish. It is serious when it needs to be but the rest of the time is extremely entertaining with a lot of great and very funny lines and moments throughout.

This is a great movie that is fun for all. 4 out of 5 stars.
