This is a 2005 release from IFC (Independent Film Channel) Productions and was written, directed by, and featured Micheal Showalter.
This movie is based on the concept of a Baxter (one who is left at the alter) and based on the story of one particular Baxter, Elliot Sherman (Micheal Showalter). Elliot is engaged to Caroline Swan (Elizabeth Banks) but has had numerous fortuitous encounters with Cecil Mills (Michelle Williams) recently. As their wedding approaches Caroline begins to reconnect with an ex-boyfriend, Bradley Lake (Justin Theroux), causing Elliot great concern. As Elliot reacts and over-reacts he repeatedly encounters Cecil. A series of entertaining events take place and then it is time for the wedding.
During the wedding ceremony Bradley rushes in and steals Caroline. Now Elliot has become the Baxter. How will he react and what will he do about it?
This film was slow to develop at the beginning but had some very entertaining parts. This movie was rated PG-13 but was still a film that would be appropriate for most audiences. 2 1/2 out of 5 stars.

I believe the term Baxter is a reference to Jack Lemons unlucky in love character in The Apartment (please see The Apartment, one of my 5 favorite films). This is a likable movie, and I’d forgotten how good the cast was.
